Unanticipated or Unexpected Adverse Event

Any research-related event which in the opinion of the Principal Investigator was unforeseen at the time of its occurrence and involved risks to participants or others. An unanticipated event may be symptomatically and pathophysiologically related to an event listed in the labeling but differs because of greater specificity or severity (21 CFR 56 Preamble).
