The University of South Florida has joined a select group of universities in creating a Tampa Bay chapter of the Achievement Rewards for College Scientists (ARCS) Foundation, which supports the best and brightest emerging scientists in their education.

Calatrava Presents Vision for USF Polytechnic

International architect Santiago Calatrava recently presented his architectural vision for USF Polytechnic, a long-term master plan for a spectacular series of new buildings. "I see the university as a city, a science city," Calatrava told the University of South Florida System Board of Trustees, as he presented what he called the "essence" of the project.

USF And Moffitt Cancer Center To Introduce New Center Of Excellence

The National Institutes of Health recently awarded USF and Moffitt a five-year, $6-million grant to create programs of research, education and training, and community engagement and outreach to reduce cancer-related health disparities among minority and underserved communities in Florida. Health disparities courses, expert lectures, professional and community trainings, health and science fairs, and a prostate cancer clinical trial are just a few of the center’s planned activities.

"USF: Unstoppable" Campaign Kicks Off

Amid green and gold festivity and fanfare, the University of South Florida launched the public phase of the most ambitious, comprehensive campaign in the university’s 53-year history at a gala held Tuesday evening in the USF Marshall Student Center. Called USF: Unstoppable, the campaign’s goal is to raise $600 million.

CBCS Dean Accepts Prestigious HHS Appointment

College of Behavioral & Community Sciences Dean Junius Gonzales, MD, who also serves as executive director of the Louis de la Parte Florida Mental Health Institute, has accepted a three-year appointment by U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Kathleen Sebelius. Dr. Gonzales will serve on the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality’s (AHRQ) National Advisory Council, a 21-member panel of private-sector experts representing health care plans, providers, purchasers, consumers and researchers.
