Quick Reference Guide



The PI is the primary individual responsible for the overall scientific, fiscal, and administrative conduct of a project: meeting the terms and conditions of the award: and representing the project to the sponsor.

The Proposal Cycle (Division of Sponsored Research)
The Division of Sponsored Research (DSR) assists researchers with funding searches, proposal development, and training programs to support and increase their participation in research and creative activities. DSR submits the proposals to the sponsors, negotiates and accepts the awards on behalf of USF. DSR serves as liason to the sponsors regarding extensions, change of PI, change of work scope, budget transfers, and revised budgets.

The Financial Administration Cycle (Research Financial Management)
Research Financial Management (RFM) assists PIs and staff with compliance and financial issues, coordinates university effort reporting, and sponsor audits of projects. RFM prepares and submits invoices, financial reports, and establishes the Research Initiatives and convenience accounts.
