Internal coordination required. Nominations are usually accepted until mid-August. No institution may nominate more than one candidate.

The Goldman Philanthropic Partnerships and the Rockefeller Brothers Fund have announced the continuation of a scholarship program to support the career development of academic physicians. Awards will be made to provide U.S. medical schools or equivalent U.S. educational institutions with support on behalf of carefully selected physicians of high potential achievement who are committed to careers in academic medicine. All scientific research relevant to human health is eligible for consideration.

An application must be accompanied by assurances from the sponsoring institution that a faculty position and facilities adequate for the conduct of the proposed research program will be provided in either a basic science or clinical department.

Charles E. Culpeper Scholarships in Medical Science

June 24, 2005 Internal coordination required. No more than two Vision Research Infrastructure Development Grants will be made to any single applicant organization. For multicampus institutions, no more than two Vision Research Infrastructure Development Grants will be made to each campus. Joint applications may be submitted by investigators at neighboring, independent institutions. The objective of the Vision Research Infrastructure Development Grant (R24) is to provide small groups of investigators who have achieved independent National Eye Institute (NEI) funding with additional, shared support to enhance their own and their institutions' capability for conducting vision research. The award is designed for institutions in which three or more investigators hold independent NEI research awards. Secondary goals of the program are to facilitate collaborative studies of the visual system and its disorders, and to attract scientists of diverse disciplines to research on the visual system.
