Located on the Tampa campus of the University of South Florida, the USF Research Park covers more than 112 acres at the heart of the USF community. The Research Park brings together world‐class researchers, inventors and entrepreneurs eager to collaborate with a highly- trained, high-tech workforce. Located just minutes from three interstate highways (I‐75, I‐275 and I‐4) and 25 minutes from Tampa International Airport, widely known as one of the best airports in the world, the USF Research Park is positioned perfectly to welcome visitors and partners from near and far.
The USF Research Park is the centerpiece of USF’s innovation enterprise, which sustains more than 4,000 public and private sector jobs and returns more than $71 million in tax revenue to local, state and federal coffers. An estimated 1,992 people are directly employed in jobs created by the USF innovation enterprise, creating a $548 million annual statewide economic impact. Housed within the Research Park, USF’s incubator is home to more than 65 resident and affiliate companies and dozens more student-led startups who are mentored and supported in their development in the USF Student Innovation Incubator. USF has a strong emphasis on biotechnology and life sciences research and entrepreneurship with more than half of the incubator companies focused on life sciences. Additionally, nearly half of the companies are commercializing technologies developed by USF faculty researchers.
For more than a decade, the USF Research Park’s goal has been to serve as a catalyst for the Tampa Bay Region’s leading science and technology innovation district. With an unparalleled collection of neighboring anchors who are world leaders in health sciences—the Moffitt Cancer Center, James A. Haley VA Hospital and AdventHealth Tampa are located within a two-mile radius—that district has become nationally known for its concentration of highly-skilled scientists and leading innovators who collaborate in an environment that promotes discovery, creativity and exploration of new ideas.
Under the leadership of President Steven Currall, Research Park will help to grow the region’s innovation and knowledge-based economy.
