Registration for
BioSafety Cabinet Continuing Education Course (On-line)

This meets annual continuing education requirement for those who
have taken the basic USF Biosafety Course (live) in a previous year.

Annual continuing education is required for all Principal Investigators, staff, and/or graduate/undergraduate students who use/store recombinant DNA, infectious agents, select agents, and biological toxins and recommended for those who work in a laboratory where these materials may be used/stored.

Course Description

Learn the Proper Use of Biological Safety Cabinets
  1. Overview of Laboratory ventilation Equipment
    Comparison of safety cabinets, chemical fume hoods, clean benches, and isolators
  2. How BSCs Work
    HEPA filters and airflow are essential to the proper operation of a Class II BSC
  3. Types of BSCs
  4. Characteristics and definition for each class and type of BSC
  5. Safe and Effective Use of BSCs
    Techniques for set-up, use, and clean-up
