The Division of Sponsored Research (DSR) assists researchers with funding searches, proposal development, and training programs to support and increase their participation in research and creative activities. DSR submits the proposals to the sponsors, negotiates and accepts the awards on behalf of USF. DSR serves as liason to the sponsors regarding extensions, change of PI, change of work scope, budget transfers, and revised budgets.

Coordination and management of external and internal contracts and grants, interdisciplinary research programs, and inter- and intra-institutional proposals are also included in the Division's responsibilities. The Division is vital to the University's post-award audit process, facilitating accountability to sponsoring agencies. The objectives of this Division are integrated with those of the USF Research Foundation in providing post-award services for private grants.
